C4 Cats Protection Scheme
Two By Two Veterinary Centre is part of the Cats Protection C4 scheme and offers low cost neutering for cats. The scheme enables cat owners on qualifying benefits or low incomes the opportunity to have their cats neutered and microchipped for £10.
About the procedure
Neutering is a surgical procedure performed under general anaesthesia that prevents unplanned or unwanted pregnancies. Neutering also has various long term health and behavioural benefits. For this reason we routinely recommend neutering cats.
For males, the procedure is called castration and involves the surgical removal of both testicles.
For females, it is called spaying and involves the surgical removal of both ovaries and the uterus.
Most pets recover very rapidly from the procedure and go home on the same day. Usually there are absorbable sutures placed and buried within the skin which do not need removing but nonetheless, a protective collar is recommended to stop potential self-trauma to the op-site. We insist on two post-operative checks post-surgery to check the wound and general recovery which is included within the price paid. Acceptable timings from the procedure of the two post-operative checks will be outlined at discharge.
