Veterinary consultation and health-checks
At Two By Two Veterinary Centre, we will always make ourselves available to see your pet if they are not well. During an initial consultation appointment, a thorough history will be collected and evaluated, followed by the undertaking of a physical examination including weight measurement. Any further diagnostic investigations or treatments that are warranted will be discussed and scheduled if appropriate by the veterinary surgeon. If it is felt more specialist assistance is necessary, options for referral can also be discussed.
All pets benefit from annual check-ups and this is an opportune time to ask questions or relay any concerns about your pet to the practice. Health checks are extremely useful to screen for health problems in the early stages so they can be identified and treated before causing illness. As during a consultation appointment, a thorough history will be collected and evaluated. Subtle indicators of disease processes beginning such as appetite changes, exercise intolerance or elevated thirst can be noted and investigated more closely. A health check includes the undertaking of a physical examination that evaluates your pet’s major organ systems and enables monitoring of their weight since the previous appointment. The veterinary surgeon will be able to recommend any vaccinations that may be (over)due, discuss nutrition, advise on dental care and prescribe preventative flea, tick and worm treatments.
